I moved to Ironbridge in November 2020 and re-opened my sharpening business with a new name to reflect that. Previously, I was Hitchin Sharpening and spent four years helping my customers maintain and improve the tools they use every day.

I sharpen:

• Knives - Domestic and commercial kitchen knives, field knives, pocket knives, sheath knives, table knives, Japanese knives, cleavers, cheap knives from the supermarket, fine Damascus steel showpieces.

• Scissors - Hairdressing and grooming scissors, kitchen scissors, dress-making scissors, snips, carpet scissors, pinking shears, thinners and chunkers, nail scissors.

• Clipper blades - large and small animal blades.

• Tools - chisels, planes, gouges, knives, carving chisels, carving knives, snips, bolt cutters, masonry chisels. I do not have the equipment for power planes or thicknessers and I don't do drill bits or handsaws except in exceptional circumstances because they are cheaper to replace.

• Garden tools - Axes, machetes, mower blades, secateurs, shears, edging shears, loppers, gardeners knives, bill hooks, grass hooks, scythes. Spades, hoes and shovels can be reshaped and edged appropriately. I do not sharpen cylinder mowers but I have a 100% record of adjusting them properly to cut (they usually don't need sharpening). I can fit new handles to things that need new handles.

• Things - this is not a complete list, it's a list of the things I usually get asked about. If it's got an edge I can get to, I can usually sharpen it. I'm happy to look at anything from a bacon slicer to a tin opener.

I keep my prices as low as I practically can because I believe that everyone deserves to benefit from a decent edge and it shouldn't just be a privilege for the wealthy.
